Aspect Medical held a conference call this morning to discuss the New England Journal of Medicine study which found that the BIS Monitor is no better at detecting Anesthesia Awareness then older devices which measure ETAG.

Aspect Medical in its conference call restated its position that the BIS Monitor is the best device for measuring Anesthesia Awareness. Aspect began the conference by listing the errors/problems with the NEJM study. According to Aspect, the study did not correctly compare the two technologies, in addition to which, the statistical analysis used in the study was unsound.
