I was in a local hospital this afternoon with my daughter who is going in for tubes tomorrow, and while I was in the lobby I got a phone call on my cell. Upon answering my cell, a security guard approched me and asked me to hang-up and shut-off my cell phone and proceeded to point to the “No Cell Phone” signs everywhere.
Apparently the hospital’s policy is “No Cell Phone Use” anywhere within the hospital walls. I was a couple thousand feet away from the nearest patient care area…
Somebody please explain to me why I coudn’t use my phone. I thought this was a dead subject.

At my hospital, cell phone use is everywhere! I think it’s just a better safe than sorry policy that keeps this alive with the older crowd. I know it doesn’t normally interfere with telemetry, but other devices might now be so lucky..
Have you ever used a GPRS phone? My phone from AT&T sends out some serious interference. If my cell phone is within 2 feet of my computer, and downloads data from the network, my CRT will jump all over the place, and I will hear the data through my speakers!
